Colophon
A colophon is an "under the hood" look at a website. I'm neither a web developer nor designer, so I can't really impart any wisdom on making a great looking website, but I hope this page will help you see that you can build a website. And I really hope you do. Every time someone stops arguing with robots and haters on social media, and takes control of their tastes and online identity, the internet becomes a cooler place to be.
This website doesn't track you, because I don't care about hits and clicks. I don't care about numbers because I didn't make this site for commerce. If you want me to know something, send me an email: s^nd^^pl^^^s@protonmail.com.
I'm using some of my spare time to learn some HTML and CSS, and this is the culmination of my learning - a handmade website. The code is probably a mess, and lots of stuff probably doesn't work as it should, but it's mine and will only get better. I edit all of my .html files by hand, upload them to GitHub, and then deploy them to Vercel.
You can make one, too!
Before I learned enough html to make a website from scratch, I used a way easier workflow that I want to share here in case you'd like to start a personal website, but aren't the computer-y type. I followed this guide exactly to create the first iteration of my site - I wrote my posts in Obsidian, and used the Digital Garden plugin to convert my Obsidian notes into HTML pages. The plugin uploaded those automatically to a repository I set up on GitHub. Then GitHub deployed the HTML pages to my host, Vercel. This seems complicated, but after the initial set up all I had to do to publish a page to my site is hit ctrl+p.
If I know you IRL, text me and I will help you set it up.
